Senator Klobuchar was renominated for a third term.

Carlson was a development consultant and attorney from St. Paul, Republican nominee for HD 55B in 1996, Independence nominee for the 4th CD in 2010 and 2012, Independence nominee for U.S. Senate in 2014, and DFL candidate for the 4th CD in 2016.

Emery was a legal analyst and writer from Montevideo and DFL candidate for the 7th CD in 2020.

Groves was a retired electrician from Bloomington, DFL nominee for HD 40B in 1996, and Independence nominee for HD 40B in 2002.

Richards was a resident of Stillwater, former minister, Republican candidate for the 8th CD in 1974, Libertarian nominee for U.S. Senate in 1978, DFL candidate for Treasurer in 1990, DFL candidate for the 8th CD in 1992, and DFL candidate for U.S. Senate in 1994. Richards was found civilly liabile for killing his half-sister in 1982 and convicted of killing his attorney in 1987. He was serving a life sentence at a Minnesota correctional facility in Oak Park Heights.
