Notes: | Bentall was the former state Secretary of the Illinois Socialist Party and nominee for Illinois’ 2nd CD race in 1910. Bentall was found guilty in April 1918 of violating the Espionage Act during World War I and was sentenced to four years in Leavenworth prison. Bentall was sentenced to one year in the Crow Wing County jail in January 1919 for his conviction of obstructing the selective draft. He held a variety of occupations including magazine editor, reverend, carpenter, and farmer. |
