Elections: 1860-present. Minnesota voted in its first presidential election two years after statehood. The state has had four iterations of presidential primaries: 1916 (repealed in 1917), 1952-1956 (repealed in 1959), 1992 (suspended in 1996, repealed in 1999), and 2020.

Minnesota held its first presidential primary since 1992 after the passage of a law in 2016. As in the 1916 and 1992 iterations of the primary, voters had to indicate the name of the political party for which they were voting prior to receiving a ballot.

Biden won 38 delegates, Sanders won 27, and Warren won 10.
