Wynia was a resident of St. Paul, instructor of political science at North Hennepin Community College, and former state Representative (HD 62A, 1977-1983; HD 63B, 1983-1989).

Foley was an attorney from St. Paul, former Ramsey County Attorney (1979-1995), former assistant Attorney General, candidate for Lieutenant Governor in 1998, Independence Party nominee for the 4th CD in 2000, and candidate for Attorney General in 2018.

Johnson was a retirement planner from Puquot Lakes, DFL nominee for the 6th CD in 1968, candidate for the 6th CD in 1974, and Independence candidate for the U.S. Senate in 2000.

Franson was a retired appraiser for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, former Minneapolis Alderman, and perennial candidate.

Richards was a resident of St. Paul, minister, Republican candidate for the 8th CD in 1974, Libertarian nominee for U.S. Senate in 1978, DFL candidate for Treasurer in 1990, DFL candidate for the 8th CD in 1992, and DFL candidate for U.S. Senate in 2018.
