Senator Mondale was reeelected to a second term.

Forsythe was an attorney from Edina, former Republican state party chair, and nominee for Attorney General in 1970. His wife, Mary Forsythe, would later serve nine terms in the state House (1973-1991).

Johnson was a resident of Minneapolis, organizer of the Socialist Workers Party, and nominee for the 5th CD in 1962. He was nominated by petition.

Braatz was a resident of Plymouth, ran a self-employed home repair business, and Industrial Government nominee for Governor in 1962, for U.S. Senate in 1964 and 1970, and for the 5th CD in 1968. He was nominated by petition.
