Rasmussen was a resident of Chatfield, former state Budget Commissioner under Governor Floyd Olson, Farmer-Labor nominee for Secretary of State in 1938 and Governor in 1942, DFL nominee for Railroad and Warehouse Commissioner in 1946, DFL candidate for Governor in 1954, and served on the Railroad and Warehouse Commission (1952-1966) and Public Service Commission (1967-1970).
Fitzgerald was a resident of Minneapolis and Democratic nominee for Treasurer 1940 and 1942.
Thompson was a resident of Minneapolis, former assistant chief of the Minnesota federal income tax division, and nominee for the 5th CD in 1954. Thompson was the party-endorsed candidate after Charles Halsted turned down the endorsement, choosing to run for Governor instead.
