Johnson was a farmer from Round Lake, state vice chairman of the Farmer Holiday Association, Farmer-Labor candidate for Railroad and Warehouse Commissioner in 1934, and Farmer-Labor nominee for Railroad and Warehouse Commissioner in 1942.
