Clerk of the Supreme Court Kaercher Davis was reelected to a third term. For the third cycle Democrats did not field a candidate for the office (1910, 1914).
Smelker was a St. Paul attorney, former two-term Wisconsin Assemblyman (1903-1907), the first Secretary of the Farmer-Labor Party, Farmer-Labor nominee for Attorney General in 1922, and candidate for the 4th CD in 1942.
