Governor Johnson was reelected to a second term, becoming the first Democrat in party history to do so for the office. Johnson's win stands as the second largest Democratic (or DFL) gubernatorial win in state history in terms of both vote percentage received and victory margin (behind only Wendy Anderson's reelection win in 1974).
Cole was a merchant from Walker and a state Representative (HD 52, 1903-1907).
Dorsett was a caterer from Minneapolis and Prohibition nominee for governor in 1904.
Loftus was the Public Ownership nominee for Lieutenant Governor in 1904.
