Two-term Treasurer Emil Munch did not seek renomination, paving the way for his father-in-law, William Seeger.
Seeger was Deputy State Treasurer and a resident of St. Paul.
Vosberg was a Republican Stearns County Auditor.
Mintzer was a resident of St. Paul.
Seeger resigned under scandal in March 1873 after being impeached for embezzelment of state funds by the House of Representatives, but before the trial in the Senate. Governor Horace Austin appointed Edwin Dyke of Faribualt to replace him.
