Notes: Carpenter was the daughter of former Minneapolis Mayor J.C. Haynes and one of the 'voices' of Betty Crocker in print and in person. Carpenter was the first woman nominated for the office of Secretary of State by the Democrats in Minnesota history. She later served as field manager for the Federal Housing Administration.
