Ahlstrom was the Lieutenant Governor candidate for the insurgent 'Anti-Machine' faction of the GOP in 1922. Ahlstrom ran for Minneapolis 9th Ward Alderman in 1923. He also ran for Judge of the Hennepin County District Court in 1932 and placed 8th ouf of eight candidates.
