Notes: Betts was convicted of a June 8, 1960 shooting of a Blaine elementary school principal and sentenced to 5 to 20 years and was paroled after serving seven years in December 1971. He launched his 1978 congressional run and 1979 state Senate campaign from Columbia Heights, his 1982 campaign from Centerville, and his 1992 campaign from Pine City.
