Notes: | Dettman was the receipient of the Purple Heart, Army of Occupation Medal, Bronze Service Star Medal, and Silver Star for his service in Korea. Dettman ran for Mayor of Minneapolis but was defeated in the DFL primaries of 1973, 1975, 1977, 1979, and 1981. Governor Wendell Anderson proclaimed February 8, 1973 as Earl Dettman Day for his charitable work. However, in October 1994 he pled guilty to felony theft for pawning clothing and toys while volunteering for Toys For Tots. |
