Notes: | Ankeny arrived in Minneapolis in 1872 and worked in the lumber business until 1880 when he began practicing law. In 1896, Ankeny was the Democratic nominee for Minneapolis Mayor but lost to incumbent Robert Pratt by 20.3 points. He also served as president of the Minneapolis Board of Education. |
