Mattson was an attorney and restaurant owner from Britt, DFL candidate for Secretary of State in 1970, former Auditor (1975-1979), candidate for the 4th CD in 1976, and candidate for U.S. Senate in 1984. Mattson was the son of state Attorney General Robert W. Mattson, Sr. (1964-1967).
Clayton was a corporate financial consultant from Chanhassen and nominee for HD 36A in 1988.
Kruth was a resident of Minneapolis, candidate for Auditor in 1978, and candidate for Treasurer in 1986. She was nominated by petition.
