Special primary election to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Senator Fay George Child on April 2, 1965. Jensen was a veterinarian and school board president from Montevideo. MIlls was the newspaper publisher of the Montevideo American and News and former state Representative (HD 24, 1947-1951). Volstad was a former newspaperman from Granite Falls. Ronning was an oil dealer from Boyd. Larson and Claggett were residents of Montevideo.
