Special election due to the vacancy created by the winner of the 1964 general election (Slattengren) not being seated due to violating the Minnesota Corrupt Practices Act during the campaign. Slattengren contested the special election but House Special Committee found neither candidate violated the law and recommended Wingard be seated. Wingard, the former representative and incumbent for the 1964 election, was seated on April 20, 1965.
