Associate Justice Murphy was appointed to the Court by Governor Orville Freeman on September 24, 1955 following the death of Associate Justice Theodore Christianson, Jr. on September 19, 1955. Murphy was an attorney from Duluth and former Assistant U.S. Attorney (1939-1951).
Anderson was a resident of Hopkins and sitting Fourth Judicial District Judge.
