Treasurer Val Bjornson ran for the U.S. Senate instead of seeking a third term.
Lund was a resident of Staples and teacher of economics and political science at Staples High School. Lund was also the former state chairman of the Young Republican League and primary campaign manager for Governor C. Elmer Anderson in 1952.
Bjornson was a resident of St. Louis Park who worked in public relations. He was the current Sergeant-at-Arms in the state House of Representatives (1949-1955).
Nordin was a resident of Fridley, sitting state Representative (HD 44, 1933-1939, 1947-1955, 1957-1963; HD 51, 1963-1967), and worked in the real estate and insurance business.
Hagen was a resident of Minneapolis who worked for a textile mill. He was also a candidate for Railroad and Warehouse Commissioner in 1946.
Jacobson was a resident of Edina and assistant secretary for the Farmers Home Mutual Insurance Company.
Utton was a resident of Minneapolis and owner of The Porkie Co.
