Lieutenant Governor Donald Wright did not seek another term.

Peterson was a resident of Minneapolis, former Chair of the Minnesota Republican Party (1950-1953), and sitting state Representative (HD 34, 1947-1955).

Nelson was an insurance executive from Minneapolis and GOP candidate for Lieutenant Governor in 1944.

Wold was a hotel broker and resident of Minneapolis.

Holman was an assistant to the president of North Star Metal Mines from St. Paul and former engrossing clerk for the state legislature.

Underdahl was a manufacturer's representative for Cortley Corp. from White Bear Lake. He would later seek the GOP nomination for Lieutenant Governor in 1960 and the DFL nomination for U.S. Senate in 1964.

Carlson was a resident of St. Paul and former employee of the state social service department. She was charged with embezzlement but was acquitted of the charges at trial.

Olsen was a town clerk and insurance agent from Forest Lake. He was a candidate for Lieutenant Governor in 1940.

Olson was a resident of Thief River Falls and president of Main Avenue Motors.
