Hansen was a farmer from Ulen and the DFL-endorsed candidate. He was a DFL candidate for Railroad and Warehouse Commissioner in 1950 and nominee for Lieutenant Governor in 1952.
Murphy was a resident of Northfield who worked in the traffic department of the Minnesota Transfer Railway. He was the DFL nominee for Lieutenant Governor in 1944 and 1950, candidate for Governor in 1946, and candidate for Railroad and Warehouse Commissioner in 1952.
Rasmussen was a police officer from St. Paul, president of a private detective agency, and Republican candidate for Railroad and Warehouse Commissioner in 1956 and 1958.
Johnson was a business manager from St. Paul, a former Constable of New Canada Township (1948-1949), candidate for SD 41 in 1950, and candidate for Lieutenant Governor in 1952.
Peterson was a resident of Minneapolis.
