Freeman was a Minneapolis attorney, former chairman of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party (1948-1950), and DFL gubernatorial nominee in 1952.
Rasmussen was a resident of Moorhead, the Farmer-Labor nominee for Secretary of State in 1938, Farmer-Labor candidate for Governor in 1942, DFL Railroad & Warehouse Commissioner nominee in 1946, DFL nominee for Treasurer in 1950, DFL Railroad and Warehouse Commissioner (1952-1967), and DFL Public Service Commissioner (1967-1970).
