Governor Thye, who succeeded Governor Harold Stassen after his resignation on April 27, 1943, was nominated. Thye, a farmer from Northfield, was a former state Deputy Commissioner of Agriculture (1939-1942) and Lieutenant Governor (1943). He would later win election to the U.S. Senate (1947-1959).
Peterson was a resident of Minneapolis and candidate for U.S. Senate in 1946.
Scarsdale was a resident of Minneapolis.
