Treasurer Schmahl was reelected to a ninth nonconsecutive term. This was the third general election matchup between Schmahl and Kleffman (also 1932, 1934).
Kleffman was a resident of Hibbing, former state Representative (HD 60, 1921-1925), Farmer-Labor candidate for the 8th CD in 1924, nominee for SD 60 in 1930, and Farmer-Labor nominee for Treasurer in 1932 and 1934.
