Petersen was an editor and publisher from Askov and state Representative (HD 56, 1931-1935). He would later serve as Governor (1936-1937) and Railroad and Warehouse Commissioner (1937-1966). Petersen did not finish his term as he succeeded Governor Floyd Olson following his death on August 22, 1936. Senator William Richardson (SD 04, 1927-1945) succeeded Petersen.

Ellsworth was an attorney from Minneapolis, former Watonwan County prosecuting attorney (1905-1909), former U.S. Representative (CD 02, 1915-1921), and candidate for Governor in 1920, 1922, 1924, and 1932. He also was a candidate for Lieutenant Governor in 1936, 1940, and 1942.

Reynolds was a resident of Minneapolis.
