Brown was a resident of Brooklyn Center, former Hennepin County Sheriff (1920-1929, 1943-1947), and Chief Patrol Officer of the Minnesota Highway Patrol (1929-1932).
Ellsworth was an attorney from St. James, former Watonwan County prosecuting attorney (1905-1909), former U.S. Representative (CD 02, 1915-1921), and candidate for Governor in 1920, 1922, and 1924.
