Representative John Nelson's name, first place finisher in the June 18, 1928 primary, was removed from the general election ballot by the Minnesota Supreme Court. The Court ruled on October 12, 1928 that Nelson had not lived HD 31 for more than one year. The name of fifth place finisher Howard Beck, who filed the petition, became the fourth nominee in the district.
