Lieutenant Governor Nolan was elected to a third term by the largest margin for the office in Minnesota history. Nolan resigned on June 19, 1929 after winning a special election to the 5th CD to fill the vacancy of Republican Walter H. Newton who was appointed secretary to President Herbert Hoover. State Senator Charles E. Adams (SD 57, 1915-1936) succeeded Nolan.

Meighen was a resident of Fillmore County who was a candidate for many offices over the decades: People's nominees for the 1st CD in 1894 and Governor in 1902, Democratic nominee for state Auditor in 1910, Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate in 1922, and Farmer-Labor nominee for Treasurer in 1926.

Pfaender was a resident of New Ulm and Chairman of the Brown County Democratic central committee.
