Vanderburgh was an attorney from Minneapolis, candidate for Associate Justice of the Supreme Court in 1918, 1920, 1922, 1924, and 1928, and nominee for Associate Justice of the Supreme Court in 1930, 1932, 1934, and 1936. He was the son of Charles Vandenburgh, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court from 1882-1894.
