Treasurer, 1922 Election
General
Candidate | Gender | Party | Votes | Percent | Margin |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Henry Rines Incumbent | Man | Republican | 339,832 | 53.16 | +6.33 |
Frank H. Keyes | Man | Farmer-Labor-Democratic | 294,102 | 46.84 |
Treasurer Rines was reelected to a fourth term. This was the first election decided by since digits since 1892 when incumbent Republican Joseph Bobleter defeated Democrat Joseph Leicht by 7.24 points.
Keyes was a hardware merchant from International Falls, former Mayor of International Falls, and Farmer-Labor candidate for Lieutenant Governor in 1924. Democratic nominee Thomas A. Canty withdrew to consolidate support against Rines and the Democratic Party subsequently endorsed Keyes.
This was the second cycle in which Democrats did not field a stand-alone nominee for the office (also 1918).
