Associate Justice Dibell was renominated in his campaign for a second term. Dibell was appointed to the Court by Governor J.A.A. Burnquist on October 14, 1918 following the death of Associate Justice George Bunn on October 9, 1918. Dibell was a resident of Duluth, former Eleventh District Court Judge, and former Supreme Court Commissioner.

Siegel was an attorney from St. Paul, former state Representative (SD 41, 1917-1921), Democratic candidate for Attorney General in 1922, Farmer-Labor candidate for the 4th CD in 1940, and eventual state Senator (SD 41, 1931-1955).

Johnson was a resident of Red Wing, First Judicial District Judge, and candidate for Associate Justice of the Supreme Court in 1914, and nominee for Associate Justice of the Supreme Court in 1924.

Vanderburgh was an attorney from Minneapolis, candidate for Associate Justice of the Supreme Court in 1918, 1922, 1924, and 1928, and nominee for Associate Justice of the Supreme Court in 1926, 1930, 1932, 1934, and 1936. He was the son of Charles Vandenburgh, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court from 1882-1894.
