Collins was a resident of Minneapolis, corporal in the U.S. Army, and President of the Minnesota chapter of the veterarns of the Rainbow Division.

Mallon was a resident of Minneapolis, captain in the U.S. Army, and designated by General Pershing as one of the "hundred heroes" of the U.S. forces in World War I. He launched an independent bid after losing the GOP primary. Mallon was nominated by petition.

McDonnell was a resident of Waverly and editor of the Waverly Star Tribune.

Friedman was a resident of Minneapolis, the first woman to run for Lieutenant Governor in Minnesota, and the first woman to file for statewide office in Minnesota. Friedman was nominated by petition.

Hubbell was a resident of Robbinsdale.
