Frankson won his renomination bid in what stands as the fourth closest primary election for the office in Republican Party history.
Crane, was a farmer from Grand Meadow and sitting state Representative (HD 06, 1911-1915; HD 05, 1917-1919). He was backed by the Nonpartisan League.
Stephens was a resident of Crookston, vice president of the Northern National Bank of Bemidji, and former state Senator (SD 62, 1903-1911).
