Todd County
Todd County is located in Central Minnesota and was established on February 20, 1855 by the Territorial Legislature. Todd County is named after John Blair Smith Todd who was the first commander at Fort Ripley (a U.S. Army outpost then in the county) from 1849 to 1856 and who later served as a Dakota Territory U.S. Delegate (1861-1863, 1864-1865).
