Itasca County

Itasca County is located in North Central Minnesota and was established on October 27, 1849 by the Territorial Legislature as one of the original nine counties. Itasca County is named from the Latin words "truth" and "head." The Mississippi River flows into Itasca County, originating from its source Lake Itasca westward in Clearwater County.
