Notes: | Born Lilian Mayhew Cox. Gault was the first woman to serve as mayor in Minnesota history. She was also the first woman to appear on a ballot for an election to the U.S. House in Minnesota history. She was unanimously endorsed for the 3rd CD race in 1922 and did not face an opponent for the nomination. Her father, Eugene St. Julien Cox, was a Mayor of Saint Peter (1865-1867), Minnesota state Representative (HD 34, 1873-1874), state Senator (SD 34, 1874-1876), and 9th Judicial District Judge (1877-1882). |
