Notes: Dr. Du Bois came to Sauk Centre a few years after receiving his medical degree when the Minnesota Board of Health sent him from St. Paul to investigate a smallbox epidemic in Stearns County. He set up his practice in Sauk Centre in 1882 and later became president of the Merchants National Bank, ran the Northwestern Radiator Company, and was president of the Stearns County Agriculutral Society, First State Bank and the Bryant Library Association.
