Notes: | Bennett came to St. Cloud, Minnesota with his family in 1861. He served as St. Cloud City Attorney from 1900 to 1912 and practiced law in St. Cloud for 64 years. At the time of his passing he was believed to be the only attorney who was addmitted to the Minnesota Bar by a special legislative act - allowing him to practice although being under the age of 21. The bill was introduced by Stearns County State Senator Colin MacDonald and signed by Governor John Pillsbury on February 3, 1977 when Bennett was 20 years old. Bennett was appointed special assistant U.S. Attorney General in 1934. |
