Notes: Edgerton came to Minnesota in 1855. Edgerton was appointed to the Minnesota Railroad Commission in 1871 and served until 1876 having been defeated in the first election to the office in 1875. He was appointed U.S. District Court Judge in South Dakota by President Benjamin Harrison. Edgerton also was appointed Chief Justice of the South Dakota Territorial Supreme Court in 1881.
